Untreated sleep disoders in commercial pilots are known to have triggered deadly mistakes linked to serious accidents in aviation and other forms of transit, according to investigators and sleep experts.
The FAA regulates the aviation industry, and has very speficic guidlines as it relates to pilots and controllers suffering with sleep disorders such as Sleep Apnea.
More proactive regluations requiring carriers to screen pilots for sleep disorders are expected to pass, driven by recurring incidents traced back to fatigue and lack of quality sleep.
